Lidia Bajkowska – Biography

She is a bestselling writer of children novels and educational books about music, a teacher, a pianist, an author of a unique and highly effective teaching method (the best for early childhood music education) – i.e. the Bajkowska Method.

She completed in 1981 the doctoral studies at The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw – the faculty: Music Composition, Conducting and Music Theory. She is a distinguished educator, bestselling writer, author of children books and music school books, together with methodological books for music teachers. She developed a unique method of music education for children aged from 2.5 to 9 years (in kindergartens and classes I – III in elementary schools).

The Bajkowska Method allows all the children to easily understand and quickly learn music. The method is also a very effective support for children to learn how to play music from the score on any instruments – especially the piano. Her method can be used as a great support for any other today’s music educational methods used worldwide.

From an early age she is strongly related to the piano playing. She hands her love for the music down to generations of children and youth, acting with disinterested passion for the culture and art. She is a precursor of the idea of “music zero-level classes” in music schools and first degree art schools in Poland (instead of the entrance exams in music schools in Poland).

Her book ‘The tale about Song Girl and the Little Notes’ was published in 1992 and awarded with The Award of Ministry of Culture in Poland. The book was recommended by the Polish Ministry of National Education as the official school book. It was also supported by the Polish Literature Supporting Found and had been included to the prestigious list of Polish Institute of Books as an official title.

In 1995 “The tale about Song Girl and the Little Notes” has been awarded and signed by the UNICEF logo and entry to the book for its special educational value of every child-friendly, values of substantive, methodological, literary and graphical ones. Subsequent publications: “The Enchanted Piano”, “The abduction of a Princess Note” and “Theatre of Dreams” was published by Proszynski & S-ka. Music books by L. Bajkowska are recognized as innovative and really effective both in professional music education and music appreciation.

Her book “The Abduction of a Princess Note” served as a script for a TV theater play for children (mini opera for children) ‘The Abduction of Music Note’, made by TVP – Polish National Television in 1998/1999.
